ANOTHER 330 final table

Running hot running hot. Another 2nd just a minute ago here at the station. This comes after a 4th last night, and a 2nd last weekend. If I can attribute this to anything OTHER than getting cards and getting lucky, I'd say I've had a pretty fearlses attitude when it comes down to the final two or three tables. I don't feel like I'm doing anything terribly creative, just employing good endgame shoving strategy using M calculations.

Account's now up to $375 ish. Oh and yeah I beat the "record" for bounties that I mentioned last night. 7 knockouts this game. :)

I start working officially for Blizzard tomorrow night. It'll be interesting to see how life will be adjusted in working a night shift. I've been 8-5 M-F for so long. I'm still expecting to get a call back from Ultra about the receiving job soon though. I really hope they don't disappoint.

Sick Final Table at 40K WSOP Event #1

I haven't been keeping up with Cardplayer or the WSOP but just checked it out. Lots of good online guys, plus one of my all time favs Ted Forrest. So many times I watch him play on TV and he makes the right decision on every street. Super duper sick. This table it's anyone though.

Busting up a 2 cent/5 cent smack talker

I doubled this guy up early when he flopped two pair, and he immediately types fffffffiiiiiiiiiissssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh in the chat box. To which I respond: ur welcome?

He continued to call everyone donks at the table. A little while later I was able to quietly own him in a few hands:

I like getting hot later rather than early. :) Still haven't been playing hardly at all but my final table ratio in these things as of late has been sick.

Update: 4th place good for about 20 bucks. I almost broke even with bounties, 6 altogether - probably a record for me. :)

I was playing heads up with this guy for a little bit after this table had broken up. He asked this player HEADS UP PLZ because he wanted to keep punishing me with his aggression.

I don't know if I played this hand really bad on the flop because really the instinct said reraise. I didn't play it that way to fold the turn. I know he's really aggressivel.

The main thing that went through my mind is that he probably checkraised the flop with a flush draw that also missed. The board was also scary enough to make a lot of better hands fold I guess. Really was a psychotic play because I shouldn't have had any fold equity. He said he had A9.

What it takes to win tournaments

Whole lotta luck. And I haven't won yet.

Been grinding $5 cash game for the last 3 hours and am also in the tourney above. Another week without even touching Full Tilt. Kristina's working this morning though so I'm having myself a lazy Saturday start. May has been a very unusual month in terms of poker playing, but I've gotten a lot more sleep! Blizzard training has just been taking it out of me I guess.

They gave my set shift once I'm out of training: 4pm-1am M-F. Which really blows because I also work the radio shift 6-12am on Saturdays. That means my lady's alone 6 out 7 nights during the week. :/

What's funny is I might end up switching jobs just in time. I interviewed with another company about a shipping/receiving job almost two weeks ago. Yesterday I got an email saying they had a few more people to interview but I was at the top of their list thus far. If I don't end up getting it I'll probably be pretty pissed that they sent that email but for right now I like my chances. :) More money, would still have benefits, and half day Fridays. Best proposition I've had since getting laid off.

Sickening

I've played hardly any poker the last week and a half which is really rare. Got on tonight and I swear it seemed like I was constantly running into Aces and Kings. Man it fucking sucks coming back to just get kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Only silver lining was winning one of my $2.25s, but I had to crack AA to do that. Go figure.

I listened to this about 6 times while I was playing tonight. I really hope Kris Allen overtakes Adam gayemotheaterboy on Idol next week.

The best part is when he goes up in pitch towards the end on "heartllleeeeessss". Sick sick sick!

5.09.2009

Nevermind

I'm not playing the satellite after all because I failed to check my work schedule at the station to see I'm working tomorrow night instead of tonight. I've been working the same Saturday night shift regularly for months and months so even though I thought I checked the schedule this week I didn't. I didn't realize until I walked into the studio to see Cassiday all set up.

To top it all off I finally got all the WoW software installed only to realize that it's not going to work on my fucking computer.

What a bunch of bullshit.

Satellite Sunday

I haven't played any poker at all since Sunday night before I started training at my new job. The hours have been 8-5 and after that I've mostly just been spending time at home with Kristina this week just chillin.

Out of nowhere I got an $45 affiliate bonus this month for players that I already have signed up earning 200 points? I wasn't even aware I could still make money off of players once I got their initial bonus money. I'm certainly not complaining, but like all big bonus money it's so much easier to spend because it isn't "earned". So even though I haven't played one hand of cards this week I've signed up for the $33 200K Stiumulus tourney that FTP is running. It's a mega satellite for the ginormous crapshoot $1K WSOP tourney plus $1500 in travel expenses.

It's really exciting because this is the first real shot I've ever taken to try and get to Vegas. But even if I win I'm still not quite sure what I'll do. There's a very good chance I'll just keep the money in my roll and just grind with it. The main determinate will have to be what my work situation ends up being.

So I've started this new tech support job but I'm under 90 day temp status essentially. I'm also interviewing for another better paying job on Monday. Regardless of where I end up I'm probably not going to be able to immediately ask for a day or two off to go to Vegas. Eh I'm really just getting ahead of myself.

One last thing is I'm trying to install World of Warcraft on my external harddrive. It's taken HOURS starting from last night and lasting still through this very moment. SO annoying and I know it's not going to be worth it, but I have got to understand what the fuck everyone is talking about in training.

5.01.2009

Ehhh

OK after getting on a little rush only to bubble both games, I think I may have just lost the tournament bug. Over 3 hours of game time with nothing to show for it. I just remembered that's probably what I hate most about MTTs.

At least tonight is the Dollhouse episode I've been waiting for! Alpha's finally gonna show up and wreak some motherfucking havoc.

I have high stakes couch pillows

I'm playing two tables while Kristina's working this afternoon. At the same time I'm watching High Stakes Poker episodes on Youtube. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I notice my couch cushions are the same as the ones in their poker room (behind Negreanu):

April SNG results

So April was a really good month overall thanks to my MTT successes. A 90 man win and 3rd in a 180 man. Then there was that 7th place close call followed by rant post a few days ago. And just tonight it looked like I'd get there again but busted 14th. :/

SNGs I was a slight loser this month:

83 sngs X 2.25 = $186.75

9 wins x 9 = $81

12 2nds X 5.40 = $64.80

8 3rds X 3.60 = $28.80

2 ?'s (ftp server outage) = $10.48

$185.08 total returned
Profit - ($1.67)

83 sngs, 31 cashes, 37% cash rate

I was up further in my overall balance but I took a shot the other night in a $26 Knockout 90 man and busted, although I did get a $4 discount with the one bounty I collected.

It's late I'm about to crash. I just want to say that Kristina and I went to see George Clinton on Wednesday night and we weren't really impressed at all. We partially blame ourselves because we're not willing to get up front with the crowd to really experience the show which would probably have made it better.

All the characters on stage were pretty damn funny I'll admit, but even watching from the back of Stubbs to see the entire stage there's so much going on it's hard to even know what to pay attention to.

My biggest problem with the show though was just the songs went so long and even though it's apparent that the musicians are really skilled in the band, 10 minute solos on every other song just gets old. The absolute best part of the show was when he brought the newest member singer Mary Griffin who absolutely KILLED it with a more bluesy song, which they followed up with Give Up the Funk. But the rest of the time we both found ourselves easily distracted with whatever else was happening in the venue.
